Position Summary

Lead all aspects of SEC reporting, technical accounting, and accounting policy governance for a publicly traded entity. Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, reporting requirements, and public company disclosure standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, earnings releases, XBRL filings, and related disclosures.
  • Oversee financial statement preparation, footnotes, MD&A support, non-GAAP reporting, and disclosure controls.
  • Research, document, and implement technical accounting guidance for complex transactions, new accounting standards, and SEC requirements.
  • Maintain and govern the Company's accounting policy framework, technical accounting memos, and reporting documentation.
  • Provide accounting and reporting expertise related to compliance, taxable income, dividend distributions, income tax matters, and related disclosures.
  • Advise on accounting for securities, investments, derivatives, hedging activities, financing arrangements, fair value measurements, and capital markets transactions.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors on SEC reporting, technical accounting matters, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Legal, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, Portfolio Management, HR, and Executive Leadership to support reporting and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee SOX controls and reporting processes while driving continuous improvement, automation, and scalability.
  • Prepare materials and support discussions for the Audit Committee, Disclosure Committee, and senior management.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop SEC reporting and technical accounting team members.

Leadership & Culture

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Controller, CFO, and senior leadership team.
  • Operate within the Company's EOS/Traction framework, establishing measurable goals and driving accountability.
  • Foster a collaborative, low-ego, high-performance culture focused on integrity, transparency, continuous improvement, and cross-functional partnership.
  • Translate complex accounting and regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in SEC reporting, technical accounting, public company accounting, or public accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, public company disclosure requirements, and regulatory filing standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, financial statement audits, and external financial reporting.
  • Background in real estate or publicly traded investment environments is strongly preferred.
