About the Role

The Senior Director of Pricing will direct company activities in the pricing of electric services, regulatory financial analysis, and general regulatory issues management. This role oversees rate design and pricing for a wide variety of electric utility matters, including electric bulk power supply contracts and tariffs, electric transmission tariff (OATT), electric retail tariffs, pole attachments, and the development of special contracts for retail electric service.

Key responsibilities include directing the preparation of electric tariffs, cost of service studies, jurisdictional separation studies, and other cost support analyses. The role also involves developing customer demand and energy forecasts, revenue projections, and evaluating customer energy load use patterns and billing determinants.

Additionally, the Senior Director participates in the formulation of regulatory policies, coordinates FERC and FPSC regulatory board matters, and provides expert testimony on pricing, jurisdictional separation, cost of service analyses, and load research and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regulatory strategy and pricing analysis for business issues governed by the FPSC and FERC.
  • Offer updates, expert presentations, and advice to company officers, board of directors, management, and external stakeholders on current regulatory issues.
  • Lead the development of strategies, review analyses, and provide regulatory perspectives on potential changes.
  • Consult and collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate developing energy policy and provide strategic direction aligned with cost of service, rate design, and forecasting methods.
  • Collaborate in the development of the long-term generation expansion plan strategy.
  • Direct the annual corporate electric customer demand and energy forecasts, ensuring correctly defined forecasting models using consistent assumptions.
  • Oversee the evaluation of demand side management programs, distributed energy resources, energy consumption, peak demands, and creation of hourly load profiles.
  • Oversee the electric revenue forecast process and development of billing determinants for rate design.
  • Provide expert testimony before FERC and FPSC on forecasting, revenue projections, and billing determinants.
  • Direct the preparation, development, and filing of retail, wholesale, and transmission electric tariffs, including rate designs, contract rates, special contracts, and new customer rates.
  • Provide usage and pricing analyses for tariff-related activities and expert testimony before FERC and FPSC.
  • Direct the preparation of cost-of-service and jurisdictional separation studies for FPSC and FERC proceedings, including expert testimony.
  • Direct the corporate load research program as required by the Public Service Commission’s Cost of Service Load Research rule and other corporate objectives.
  • Oversee the load research team in sample size calculations, sample selection/installation, data collection, and reporting as required by the FPSC Load Research Rule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Legal, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Graduate degree preferred.
  • 10 years of regulatory experience and/or general experience in industry structure, utility finance and accounting practices, ratemaking practices, legal, and regulatory processes.
  • Preferred: Experience in performing and/or leading cost-of-service studies, statistical forecasting processes, and designing rates.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal office environment with occasional weekend and overtime requirements. Occasional travel within or outside the state may be needed.

Storm Duty Requirements: Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment. Team members are required to participate in response/recovery activities to maintain service to customers during emergencies or disasters.
