Sr. Director of Corporate Communications
About the role
R&R Partners is seeking a dynamic Corporate Communications Senior Director to join our team and lead initiatives for various clients across multiple industries. Clients may range from consumer-focused organizations to those with issues before local, state and federal governments, regulators and NGOs. Responsible for the long-term strategic communications direction for assigned clients, this person plans, executes and delivers measurable results to clients. The perfect candidate will possess an innate curiosity about current events, both locally and around the world, a solid grasp of reputation management and message development strategy, a passion for crisis communications, and expertise in crafting comprehensive brand strategies incorporating PR, community affairs, and content marketing.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with VP and EVP to set strategic direction for client.
- Maintain direct, day-to-day, senior-level client contact and present confidently to client.
- Maintain a keen awareness and understanding of the clients’ business products and services, goals, competition and potential problems.
- Develop media training programs and conduct sessions with clients.
- Develop and execute crisis response for clients, in collaboration with VP and EVP.
- Continuously seek to improve public speaking and presentation skills.
- Assist with staffing of client media opportunities or community relations events, as requested.
- Support and mentor junior team members.
- Assist with internal communications/PR needs, including coordinating with other departments on their needs and requests.
- Develop relationships with media and appropriate content creators/news influencers to pitch/influence stories.
- Deliver results through proactive media engagement, ensuring influential placements for the client.
- Write, distribute and review press releases and fulfill media inquiries to these audiences as required.
- Participate in ongoing performance reviews for direct report(s).
- Represent and promote the agency at industry functions.
- Foster professional development of Account Executives, Assistant Account Executives and Coordinators through training, mentoring, and recommending educational opportunities.
- Develop roadmap for key initiatives and ensure timelines are met and teams are well-coordinated amidst competing priorities.
- Seek business opportunities with new and existing clients and play a supportive role in their development. Be familiar with overall agency goals and able to cross-sell the various disciplines of marketing.
Requirements
- 10+ years of corporate communications experience – experience and interest in public affairs preferred.
- Experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
- Holds well-established connections with media and excels at both nurturing existing relationships and forging new ones through a blend of traditional and digital methods.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration.
- Proficient in utilizing CRM systems, media monitoring services, and cloud-based tools like Cision and Muck Rack.
- Proven understanding and demonstrated success in deploying reputation enhancing content across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X, collaborating, when appropriate, with social media teams to develop longer-term plans to rebuild/reestablish brands.
- Ability to stay abreast of emerging trends and adept at integrating and crafting engaging content.
- Solid working knowledge of AI and how to effectively and ethically leverage to elevate client outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent experience in a public relations environment.
