Sr. Director Environmental Health & Safety
About the role
At Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), one of Danaher’s 15+ operating companies, you will lead the global Environmental Health & Services (EH&S) function. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing EH&S programs to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and identify and resolve EH&S program gaps and deficiencies across IDT’s manufacturing sites, regional sales, research, service, and warehouse facilities in the U.S. and internationally (Coralville, IA; San Diego, CA; Raleigh, NC; Boulder, CO; Fargo, ND; Madison, WI; Leuven, Belgium; and Singapore).
The position reports to the Vice President, Global Operations and is based on-site at one of the following locations: Coralville, IA; San Diego, CA; Raleigh, NC; Boulder, CO; Fargo, ND; or Madison, WI.
Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, and implements a global EH&S and environmental sustainability management strategy, programs, policies, and procedures for IDT.
- Ensures full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements through compliance programs and standard work for environmental reporting.
- Leads a global facility EH&S review process to detect hazards, determine corrective or preventive measures, and ensure implementation.
- Ensures the global EH&S team remains up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Leads and coordinates all EH&S audits (OpCo, Danaher, external) for IDT, develops action plans to resolve findings, and implements countermeasures.
- Serves as the IDT global contact for government agencies, the Danaher point of contact for IDT, and the IDT representative on the Danaher EH&S Operations Leadership Council.
- Provides leadership on EH&S issues, assists IDT management in understanding business impacts, and enables resource allocation and decision-making to improve EH&S performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven track record of driving the EH&S agenda in a multi-site, global manufacturing organization.
- Ability to engage the workforce at all levels to build a strong EH&S culture and collaborative team-oriented approach.
- Broad EH&S experience, including working-level subject matter expertise, project/process leadership, and department or functional area management.
- Must reside in the U.S. with frequent travel to Coralville, IA (relocation to Iowa preferred). Estimated travel: 40-50%, including 10% global travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- EH&S-related licenses, certifications, and/or membership in professional associations.
- Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions (due diligence and integration) and risk/liability management.
- Demonstrated experience leading Business Continuity Planning and supervision of BCP teams.
- Ability to view issues systematically and logically.
Pay
The annual salary range for this role is $170,000–$240,000. This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
