Sr. Director, Design - Product & Experience
About the Role
Bevi is on a mission to transform how beverages are delivered and consumed. Our connected beverage platform eliminates the need for single-use bottles and cans, making it easy, fun, and sustainable to stay hydrated. As the category leader in IoT-enabled beverage technology, we're building a future where Bevi machines are everywhere people live, work, and connect.
We're looking for a Senior Director, Product & Experience Design to lead the team that shapes how our products look, feel, and work—from the Bevi machine that houses your favorite drinks to the screen experience that turns your selections into your go-to pour. We believe design isn't just how Bevi competes, it's how we win. This role owns the design vision across both physical industrial design and UI/UX, ensuring a cohesive experience for drinkers, clients, and partners.
You'll manage a multidisciplinary team, set design standards, and partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and other teams. This role reports to the VP of Product and offers significant influence over product decisions and growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Design Vision & Craft:
- Define and maintain a coherent design language across Bevi's hardware and digital products.
- Set the bar for craft in industrial design and UI/UX, and raise it through hands-on involvement.
- Own CMF (color, material, finish) standards in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Operations.
- Drive design innovation and guide executive decisions through design principles.
- The End-to-End Product Experience:
- Own the experience for drinkers, clients, and partners—from first interaction to repeat use.
- Ensure every touchpoint (visual, tactile, digital) feels unmistakably Bevi.
- Design for the full journey, including service partners and technicians.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and grow a team of Industrial Designers and UI/UX Designers, aligning both disciplines to a unified vision.
- Coach designers on craft and career growth to scale with Bevi’s product roadmap.
- Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Partner with Product Management to translate roadmap priorities into design direction.
- Work with Engineering to protect design integrity from concept through production.
- Represent design in product strategy and planning conversations.
- Systems & Scalability:
- Build and maintain design systems to ensure consistency as Bevi’s product line grows.
- Establish standards and processes for design review, approval, and execution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of design experience with 5+ years leading both physical/industrial design and digital/UI-UX design, ideally for connected hardware or consumer electronics.
- Proven experience managing and growing a multidisciplinary design team.
- A portfolio demonstrating range across hardware and digital, with strong craft in both.
- Experience owning CMF decisions and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing partners.
- Ability to set vision while staying hands-on with details.
- Strong communication skills to advocate for design with engineers and executives.
- Track record of building or scaling design systems for consistency.
- Bonus: A broad design sensibility beyond industrial design and UI/UX to inform Bevi’s holistic approach.
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (95% employer-paid).
- 401(k) with company match.
- Flexible PTO plus 12 company holidays and additional paid sick leave.
- Generous fully paid parental leave for birth and non-birth parents.
- Fully employer-paid disability and life insurance.
- Wellness and fitness reimbursements.
- Monthly stipends for cell phone use and commuting costs.
- Onsite snacks, weekly catered lunch, and unlimited Bevi beverages.
- Team-building events, happy hours, and Values awards.
