Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve an enterprise compliance program that supports business growth, regulatory readiness, and a strong culture of integrity.
  • Lead the development and execution of the enterprise compliance strategy, roadmap, and commercialization-readiness initiatives.
  • Build and manage a scalable, risk-based compliance program aligned with recognized healthcare compliance standards and industry best practices.
  • Establish governance structures, policies, procedures, systems, and operational processes that support sustainable growth.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership by identifying compliance risks, regulatory trends, and opportunities that influence business decisions.
  • Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Human Resources, Finance, Privacy, Legal, and other teams to integrate compliance into daily operations.
  • Provide guidance on healthcare compliance matters, including interactions with healthcare professionals, promotional activities, patient support programs, grants, speaker programs, and transparency obligations.
  • Develop and maintain compliance metrics, reporting frameworks, and program assessments to measure effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct enterprise compliance risk assessments and implement monitoring activities to identify and address potential issues.
  • Establish and oversee compliance reporting channels, investigations, corrective actions, remediation plans, and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop third-party compliance processes, including diligence, onboarding, monitoring, and recertification programs for vendors, consultants, and strategic partners.
  • Build and evolve the Compliance function by defining organizational needs, capabilities, resources, and future team structure.
  • Manage external compliance advisors, consultants, and related budgets while developing internal expertise and operational maturity.
  • Foster trusted relationships across the organization and influence decision-making through collaboration, credibility, and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • An experienced compliance executive with a strong background in life sciences or healthcare environments and a proven ability to build and scale compliance programs.
  • Deep regulatory knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; advanced degree such as JD, MBA, MPH, MS, or equivalent preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or healthcare compliance roles.
  • Demonstrated experience building, launching, or significantly enhancing enterprise compliance programs within growing organizations transitioning toward commercialization.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements, including FDA promotional regulations, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Sunshine Act/Open Payments, PhRMA Code, HIPAA, and related regulations.
  • Experience supporting commercial organizations and preparing compliance programs for market entry.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide compliance initiatives.
  • Strong project and program management skills, with experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience developing multi-year compliance strategies, implementation plans, governance models, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Able to manage multiple strategic priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver measurable outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong operational leadership skills with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and drive accountability across teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive presentation skills.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary range of $265,000-$285,000 USD nationally, with a San Francisco Bay Area range of $275,000-$295,000 USD depending on experience, skills, and location.
