About the Role

BMC Helix is seeking a Sr. Director, Communications, reporting to the Head of Global Marketing, to lead corporate communications, public relations, executive communications, brand, content, social, and creative services. As champion of the new Helix brand — through its development, launch, and beyond — this leader partners closely with Strategic Marketing and Product Marketing on campaign narratives, and takes the lead on the innovative, high-impact creative ideas that make launches and major moments land. The Sr. Director ensures a continuous pipeline of high-impact content and campaigns that engage buyers across every stage of the customer journey, driving both market awareness and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Champion & Narrative Architecture: Run the company's narrative architecture day-to-day, consulting with the Head of Global Marketing on core company and campaign narratives; serve as the internal and external champion of the Helix brand through its development, launch, and beyond.
  • Creative Launch Leadership: Lead the development of innovative, high-impact creative concepts for major launches, partnering with Strategic Marketing and Product Marketing on campaign and product launch narratives.
  • Global PR Ownership & Results: Own public relations as a measurable, globally consistent function. Manage agency performance against clear targets and build a model that delivers consistently across every region.
  • Corporate & Executive Communications: Lead corporate and executive communications, ensuring a consistent voice and message across external and internal channels. Lead message governance and spokesperson programs.
  • Reputation & Issues Management: Serve as the company's crisis and issues management lead — building response protocols in advance, managing sensitive moments in real time, and protecting brand credibility under pressure.
  • Content & Creative Services Leadership: Lead content and creative services, ensuring a continuous pipeline of high-impact content and campaigns that engage buyers across every stage of the customer journey.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team spanning Employee Communications, Executive Communications, Design, Content, Social Media, and PR, translating brand and narrative strategy into flawless day-to-day execution. Coordinate closely with regional marketing teams to build on successful in-region programs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Strategic Marketing, Product Marketing, Demand Marketing, and Digital to ensure brand storytelling and content fuel pipeline, market awareness, and revenue growth.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 12+ years in corporate communications, brand, or content leadership, ideally within B2B SaaS enterprise technology, with demonstrated experience leading through a brand launch or major rebrand.
  • Narrative & Brand Leadership: Proven ability to architect and champion a company narrative and brand voice that resonates externally and internally.
  • PR & Media Relations Leadership: Track record building and running global PR programs that deliver consistent earned coverage across major markets. Experience managing agencies hands-on and holding them accountable to measurable outcomes.
  • Operational Rigor & Measurement: Proven ability to run comms and PR against clear metrics, message governance, and budget accountability. Has built institutional-grade process at a company with real scale and complexity.
  • Content Innovation: Demonstrated ability to develop compelling content in multiple formats that captures attention and engages buyers from social media and out-of-home through the buyer's journey. Loves the challenge of combining data-driven optimization, against-the-grain narratives, AI-centric experimentation, and limited budgets for outsized results.
  • Creative Vision: A track record of leading innovative, memorable creative concepts for major launches and brand moments, not just incremental content output.
  • Crisis & Issues Management: Has led a company through a high-stakes public moment with composure, sound judgment, and fast decision-making under pressure.
  • People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and elevate a team spanning PR, social, brand design, and communications.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Skilled at partnering with peer marketing leaders to align narrative, campaign strategy, and content without direct authority over their teams.
  • Executive & Organizational Navigation: Comfortable operating inside a complex, PE-owned executive structure. Reads organizational dynamics accurately, exercises discretion with sensitive information, and adjusts narrative and pacing through leadership and ownership transitions without losing momentum.
  • Scrappy, Resourceful Operator: Thinks like a founder, not a big-company comms leader. Delivers institutional-grade programs with limited budget and headcount, moves fast, and gets hands-on when needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Pay Range

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $197,250 - $328,750.
