About the Role

The Sr. Director, Cardiovascular Services develops and implements high-level strategies and provides overall management of operations and resources for the Cardiovascular Services within the Physician Enterprise. Responsible for the development, communication, and implementation of a strategic plan to grow the program in volume, breadth, and depth of services. Accountable for operations ensuring patient safety, meeting or exceeding national quality standards, and responsiveness to patients, families, and medical staff. Additional responsibilities include financial management, human resource management, and revenue cycle management in accordance with corporate policies, regulatory guidelines, and statutes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strong leadership and direction in establishing a Cardiovascular service line that meets or exceeds national quality standards.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital, DNV, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborates with system leadership to facilitate and coordinate system-wide initiatives involving cardiovascular services.
  • Partners with physicians, nursing, other clinicians, and families to create a clear vision for the Cardiovascular service line.
  • Develops a strategic plan reflecting market understanding, including threats, opportunities, and industry trends.
  • Communicates the vision to internal and external constituents.
  • Creates a culture of high clinical and professional standards, family-centered care, and service to referring physicians.
  • Leads and facilitates the integration of all aspects of cardiovascular services into a single comprehensive service line.
  • Plans, organizes, develops, and implements operations to meet the needs of cardiovascular patients, families, and physicians throughout the continuum of care.
  • Meets corporate and departmental goals while directing, coordinating, and developing policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Supports physician co-Directors in the continual development of the academic mission, including fellowship programs and continuous medical education.
  • Assists non-physician clinical leaders in establishing a culture of continual learning.
  • Develops clinical experts to participate in educational programs and provide presentations to medical staff and personnel.
  • Identifies extramural funding for new or expanded research, academic, or clinical programs in partnership with the Foundation.
  • Promotes research by physicians and clinicians through grants and other funding.
  • Prepares and administers annual expense budgets, capital request budgets, and human resource utilization plans.
  • Leads business plan development for new programs and services.
  • Builds strong professional and collegial relationships with medical staff, ancillary departments, and other internal and external partners.
  • Provides administrative support on contractual, legal, and financial matters for Cardiovascular service line co-Directors and faculty/physicians.
  • Advocates for the needs of the Cardiovascular services.
  • Develops a medical/executive committee structure to facilitate service line planning and communication.
  • Operationally responsible for the Cardiovascular service line.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (required).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration (preferred).
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration (preferred).
  • 5-7 years of management experience (required).
  • Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee, Mississippi, or Arkansas (preferred).

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of business principles and healthcare administration, including strategic and operational planning, healthcare economics, personnel administration, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of business office operations, particularly third-party billing and reimbursement activities.
  • Knowledge of process analysis and design.
  • Proven skills in interpersonal relationships, planning, organizing, budget preparation, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, work in teams, educate others, and relate to all organizational levels.
  • Ability to comprehend complex subjects, motivate behavior changes, and translate technical language for lay audiences.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and monitor processes in a complex healthcare environment.

Supervision

Manages, directly and indirectly, associates involved in the daily operations and strategic planning of the Cardiovascular service line. May supervise leaders in assigned cardiovascular service line areas.

Physical Demands

  • Physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Light work: exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
  • Frequent travel outside the facility.
