Sr. Director, Business Development (Northern California - Bay Area)
Role Overview
The Sr. Director, Business Development will drive increased sales and business for Avid Bioservices among biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, and pharmaceutical companies, or other relevant entities, and enhance Avid's presence in the marketplace through mutually beneficial business partnerships.

Responsibilities
- Grow market share and revenue within the biopharmaceutical/biotechnology CDMO industry by targeting and meeting with prospective clients to sell the benefits of partnering with Avid.
- Create, qualify, strategize, and close on new business opportunities within the biopharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies and provide them to the Chief Commercial Officer.
- Maintain relationships with existing clients to secure follow-on business.
- Solicit and manage requests for proposals, information, and quotations from clients and potential clients.
- Collaborate with the proposal writer to customize and assemble documentation due to clients and ensure completion and issuance of responses for all forms of requests for information.
- Develop technical, management, and cost proposals based on client opportunities, customer needs, and competitive offerings.
- Develop plans and models that support business requirements and strategic selling initiatives, including customer intelligence, market segmentation and analysis, cross-selling and up-selling campaigns, key performance indicators and metrics, and market share.
- Deliver strategic market insight for optimizing sales coverage and market segmentation.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and seminars, document leads, follow up, and opportunities in the appropriate CRM.
- Collaborate with the proposal writer to develop pricing models, structure, and negotiate manufacturing contracts, and support project scope of work documentation.
- Coordinate and manage client site visits and audits.
- Develop, update, maintain and evaluate competitive and industry analysis and intelligence information/database.
- Provide data analysis and analytics support for sales cycle related functions in proposal and presentation collateral.
- Manage travel as needed and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in mandatory team meetings and regularly standing internal calls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) in biology, chemistry or similar science disciplines from a four-year college or university.
- 5+ years of experience in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing environment, CDMO (preferably Biologic Drug Substance) sales positions demonstrating knowledge, capability, and expertise in the biologics/pharmaceuticals industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge in upstream and downstream manufacturing, as well as analytical tests and technology transfer processes.
- Demonstrate ability to establish and build professional relationships.
- Growing and expanding sales and customer base is required.
- Demonstrate ability to work within a team environment, supporting fellow business operations, marketing, proposal writers, and project management professionals.
- Demonstrate experience within the territories with access to biopharmaceutical accounts.
- Able to navigate internal teams to ensure the best support of client needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of software programs.
Compensation
We offer competitive compensation packages for this role, including a base salary, performance-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. The compensation range for this role is $185,600 to $232,000 annually (plus incentive-based commissions), depending on experience and qualifications.
