About the role

Defines mid- and long-term R&D strategy and ensures implementation, coordination, development and control of the R&D portfolio and budget for the assigned unit to ensure business competitiveness. Steers development of products and technology, ensuring operational excellence for the R&D organization. Conducts continuous analyses of strategically relevant technological trends on a global scale. Analyzes the product, system, and service portfolio of Radiation Oncology Solutions, deriving long-term perspective proposals for prospective technology and innovation portfolio development.

Derives and proposes technology strategies in cooperation with the business, creating actionable plans. Coordinates strategic R&D planning and reporting to business organization management. Identifies technology development opportunities and initiates, coordinates, and manages project acquisition, exploration, and research. Builds and maintains a strategic network with internationally recognized technology experts to support the R&D roadmap. Represents Global R&D to development and technology partners as well as various internal stakeholders.

Manages Global R&D infrastructure and capacity allocation, coordinating communication and harmonization across multiple locations. Ensures operational excellence, productivity gains, and employee engagement for Global R&D teams. Coordinates development and monitoring of core KPIs and annual goals for the organization. Maintains key customer relationships and develops strategies for expanding solutions. Drives cross-functional collaboration within all business functions globally to meet and exceed company goals, including employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, and financial metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Set a vision, lead change, and mentor others within the R&D organization.
  • Work with global development teams across multiple countries.
  • Operate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Analyze and develop long-term technology and innovation strategies for Radiation Oncology Solutions.
  • Coordinate strategic R&D planning, reporting, and budget management.
  • Identify and manage technology development opportunities and research projects.
  • Build and maintain a strategic network with technology experts.
  • Represent Global R&D to partners and stakeholders.
  • Manage infrastructure, capacity, and resource allocation across R&D locations.
  • Ensure operational excellence, productivity, and employee engagement.
  • Develop and monitor core KPIs and annual goals for the R&D organization.
  • Maintain key customer relationships and expand solution offerings.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve company-wide goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in a leadership role in R&D product development.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in the Medical Device industry.
  • Strong budgeting, organizational management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a global, matrixed environment with distributed teams.
  • Proven experience setting vision, leading change, and mentoring others.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $301,700 - $414,843. Factors such as geography, market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications may affect starting pay within this range.
