Sr. Developer - Workday Integrations
About the Role
The Sr. Integrations Developer is part of the HRIS team and requires deep technical expertise in Workday Integration tools, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with HR, IT, Finance, Accounting, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless data flow and system connectivity. As a key technical expert, the Sr. Integrations Developer supports existing integrations and works closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient integration solutions.
This role requires strong knowledge of core design principles, common data modeling and patterns, project implementation methodology, and a successful record of delivering high-quality integrations. The Sr. Integration Developer will design, develop, test, and maintain integrations using Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, and APIs, while ensuring data security and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and solve sophisticated business problems for integrating the Workday cloud application with external applications across a wide array of Human Capital Management functions.
- Lead the design, build, and testing of Workday integration code base including Studio, EIB, Cloud Connect, Orchestrate, API, RaaS, DT, and supporting 3rd party coding.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and 3rd Party Vendor teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable integration solutions.
- Analyze, research, debug, and resolve Workday Integration production-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to enhance integration performance, automate processes, and improve system efficiency.
- Ensure integrations adhere to security best practices, data privacy regulations, and compliance standards.
- Create conceptual approaches, technical analyses, and plans for development, unit testing, deployment, and maintenance support activities.
- Lead integration testing activities, prepare test scripts, and conduct Unit and UAT testing.
- Write and maintain XSLT and MVEL expressions to manipulate data and automate business logic within Workday Studio Integrations.
- Create thorough documentation of integration procedures, processes, and configurations for installation, maintenance, and future reference.
- Design, code, document, and implement new applications as well as existing programs.
- Contribute to enhancements and corrections to existing integrations and applications codebase.
- Develop code that complies with design specifications and meets security and best practices, ensuring high system performance.
- Collaborate with Development & QA staff on individual and team deliverables.
- Conduct code reviews to comply with coding standards.
- Build working relationships with all teams on software development.
- Identify opportunities for future enhancements and refinements to standards and development methodologies.
- Work on multiple projects and initiatives with different/competing timelines and demands.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related area or at least 6 years of experience using Workday or related systems.
- 6 or more years of work experience in IT, HRIS, or related fields.
- Hands-on Workday experience developing and supporting end-to-end Integrations across multiple functions, such as Core HCM, Compensation, Recruiting, Learning, Finance, Benefits, IT, and Procurement.
- Experience in all phases of the technology implementation lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, build, testing, and launch).
- Experience leading design sessions, reviewing, and assisting in the creation of project deliverables.
- Experience with Workday integrations (Inbound EIB, Outbound EIB, Studio, calculated fields, and advanced custom reports).
- Familiarity with utilizing Workday API documentation to build technical design documentation for both Workday integrations, Production Support teams, and non-Workday technical teams.
- Capable of diagnosing system errors from log files and translating technical errors into business actions.
- Proven experience working with technologies such as XML, XSLT, XPATH, SOA, SOAP, OAuth 2.0, Report-as-a-Service, REST Web Services, and Web technologies.
- Workday Core Connector and Effective Change Interface experience strongly encouraged (CCW, CCB, WECI, PECI, PICOF).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and SQL programming; C#, .NET with Visual Studio, TFS, HTML, and JavaScript; SFTP and encryption preferred.
- Understanding of agile project management, SDLC, risk management, and quality engineering.
- Experience with custom report layouts using BIRT and RaaS reports based on business requirements and wireframes.
- Experience utilizing CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, TFS, GitHub, Jenkins, SVN, etc.
- Experience working/communicating effectively with diverse business and IT staff in multiple locations and in a multinational environment.
- Proven experience in eliciting and elaborating business requirements, drafting system design specifications, and developing technical solutions.

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit. An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some local travel to various offices could be needed.
