Sr. Corporate Counsel- Commercial Transactions
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate broad range of commercial contracts supporting the CarMax enterprise.
- Representative commercial transactions include agreements related to product and services, technology (including SaaS), intellectual property and data licensing, marketing, consulting services and employee benefits.
- Revise, develop and implement standardized templates, clause libraries, and transactional playbook.
- Provide practical legal advice to various corporate departments regarding contractual obligations, related risks and requirements of applicable law.
- Provide legal advice to the business regarding artificial intelligence, including performing risk assessments and drafting policies.
- Coverage of special projects with various corporate departments.
- Aid in ongoing corporate compliance efforts.
- Engage and manage outside counsel, as needed.
Qualifications
- 4+ years experience practicing law, with focus on commercial contracting and/or technology preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
About the Role
This individual will report to the Associate General Counsel and has an opportunity to be a part-time role.
Pay
The Hourly Rate For This Position Is $155,800.00 - $249,300.00
Benefits
Except as otherwise required by state law, those considered part-time are eligible for sick time only in states that mandate it and amounts are accrued on a per pay period basis and range from 24 hours to unlimited based on state rules. In Washington, part-time Associates receive sick leave consistent with state law. Part-time Associates are also eligible for between 8 hours and 40 hours per year of vacation based on their length of service and subject to a 1 year waiting period. Part-time Associates are also eligible for 4 hours of Floating Holiday Time each calendar year subject to manager approval.
