Sr. Content Designer- 2 roles
Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote. If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid, requiring you to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. The remaining work time will be remote from your home. If you live more than 50 miles from these offices, the role will be fully remote, though occasional in-office visits may be requested based on business needs.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
- Excellent knowledge of writing principles, English grammar, and spelling to create, edit, and/or proofread professional-quality publications that effectively communicate with the chosen audience
- Strong knowledge in the design and development of instructional materials, incorporating adult learning principles
- Experience conducting needs analysis, writing instructional objectives, creating blended learning solutions, incorporating learning object methodology, and integrating measurement standards
- Working knowledge of media file formats, standards, and best practices for web presentation (Preferred)
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with internal customers by facilitating meetings and providing relevant feedback
- Strong proven project management skills and ability to meet project quality expectations within schedule and budget
- Strong service focus in anticipating client needs, managing complex client relationships, and promoting a high-impact service culture by consulting and involving all key stakeholders
- Proficiency in HTML 5, SCORM 1.2 and 2004, JavaScript (Required)
- Video and photo creation/editing experience (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Snagit, Adobe Premier, Adobe Audition, Audacity, Adobe Creative Cloud, Motion Array, Vimeo)
- Print and support material experience (e.g., InDesign, Publisher, Microsoft Office, Getty Images)
- eLearning authoring experience (e.g., Lectora, Captivate, Articulate 360, SCORM 1.2 and 2004)
- LMS and LXP experience (Required)
- Advanced skillset in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Advanced skillset in Microsoft Word
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, distance learning, or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in instructional design and analysis
- Experience in training design—creating, customizing, and working from open space to find the right solution to engage and improve business performance
- Experience in media development, publishing, content management, and conducting classroom learning sessions, seminars, and workshops
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Travel less than or equal to 10%
Responsibilities
- Leads engagement with field stakeholders (e.g., focus groups, working sessions) to gather insights, ensure alignment with business objectives, and inform the development of targeted learning solutions; ensures effective delivery of curriculum across multiple channels and modalities
- Leads the design and continuous improvement of training content, including digital and instructor-led materials; evaluates program effectiveness and delivers strategic recommendations to enhance learning outcomes and sales leadership development
- Oversees the integration and deployment of training initiatives across regions; communicates program strategy, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Manages and drives the execution of projects of moderate complexity, applying project management best practices to deliver outcomes on time and within scope while forecasting near- and long-term deliverables
- Maintains deep knowledge of emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in learning and development, applying insights to continuously improve instructional strategies
- Identifies resource needs and ensures appropriate expertise is leveraged to deliver project objectives; establishes and maintains effective controls throughout the project lifecycle
- Provides guidance and expertise to stakeholders and peers on learning strategies, content development, and digital learning solutions
- Actively builds strong relationships among teams/team members to ensure cooperation on project objectives
- Designs evaluation strategies and tools to determine whether desired learning and performance outcomes are achieved
- Analyzes performance results, identifies variances, and provides data-driven recommendations to improve outcomes; applies insights from internal metrics and external trends to inform business decisions
- Partners with finance and stakeholders to develop and manage training budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and oversight of project-related expenditures
- Supports onboarding and development of team members, providing mentorship and sharing best practices to strengthen team capabilities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Pay
The salary range for this job is $80,000–$110,000. This range is specific to the job, and offers consider factors such as education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range reflects information known at the time of posting, and compensation decisions depend on individual circumstances.
