Location: GA, US

Work Designation: Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote. If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops creative learner-centered, performance-based training content across multiple modalities.
  • Develops innovative solutions for content presentation such as storyboards, course materials, facilitator guides, communications, and digital assets to support learning objectives.
  • Conducts needs analysis and partners with stakeholders and subject matter experts to define learning requirements and appropriate content solutions.
  • Applies adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create effective, performance-based learning experiences.
  • Stays current on instructional design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve content development practices.
  • Performs content audits, gap analyses, and content updates to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business needs.
  • Works with latitude to facilitate the design, development, and implementation of learning and development initiatives and supporting communication materials for the division. Creates layout designs using appropriate tools and develops a wide range of content, including internal communications, proposals, technical and operational documentation, project plans, and training materials.
  • Establishes and maintains processes to ensure accurate, timely communication, documentation, and information management, while monitoring and analyzing engagement and response metrics.
  • Analyze, gather, and document training requirements to identify curriculum objectives and desired outcomes; maintains awareness of departmental initiatives and priorities while consistently demonstrating the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensures all training content and communications are properly prepared, reviewed, and routed through established approval channels prior to release; manages the production, formatting, and controlled distribution of materials, including proposals, training assets, and operational documentation.
  • Supports and reinforces organizational standards for content design through established governance processes.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on learning products and content development tools; recommends and manages external vendor resources for instructional design initiatives.
  • Partners with stakeholders to establish course development standards and collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy, relevance, and alignment with desired learning outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of writing principles, English grammar, and spelling to create, edit, and/or proofread professional-quality publications that effectively communicate with the chosen audience.
  • Strong knowledge in the design and development of instructional materials, incorporating adult learning principles.
  • Experience conducting needs analysis, writing instructional objectives, creating blended learning solutions, incorporating learning object methodology, and integrating measurement standards.
  • Working knowledge of media file formats, standards, and best practices for web presentation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with internal customers by facilitating meetings and providing relevant feedback and input to topic or concern being discussed/reviewed.
  • Strong proven project management skills and ability to meet project quality expectations within schedule and budget.
  • Strong service focus in anticipating client needs where possible, managing complex client relationships, promoting a high-impact service culture by consulting and involving all key stakeholders.
  • Video and Photo Creating/Editing Experience required (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Snagit, Adobe Premier, Adobe Audition, Audacity, Adobe Creative Cloud, Motion Array, Vimeo).
  • Print and support material experience required (e.g., InDesign, Publisher, Microsoft Office, Getty Images).
  • eLearning authoring experience required (e.g., Lectora, Captivate, Articulate 360, SCORM 1.2 and 2004).
  • LMS and LXP experience (required).
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint: Advanced skillset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, distance learning, or a related field.
  • Required: 4+ years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Preferred: training design—creating, customizing, and working from open space related to finding the right solution to engage and improve business performance.
  • Preferred: media development, publishing and content management; conducting classroom learning sessions, seminars, and workshops.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay

The salary range for this job is $70,000 - $90,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
