Responsibilities
- Research and develop new lines of business, including market trends and competition
- Assess individual risks for acceptability, coverage, and pricing by utilizing technical analysis
- Achieve production and loss ratio goals through effective broker management and marketing
- Oversee policy maintenance and mid-term requests, ensuring compliance with loss control recommendations
- Maintain positive relationships with brokers through proactive communication and conflict resolution
- Develop and mentor underwriting talent through classes and personal coaching
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Completion of insurance courses like CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI preferred
- Eight years of commercial liability underwriting experience, particularly with large or complex accounts
- Knowledge of complex underwriting policies, practices, and insurance law
- Expertise in facultative reinsurance and alternative rating methods
