Sr. Construction Project Manager- Manufacturing Market

About the role

This position is available in Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Dallas, TX; and Lexington, KY. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate leadership qualities and awareness of staff working relationships.
• Extend consideration, courtesy, and respect to project staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
• Demonstrate and communicate a consistent and clear approach to problem solving.
• Ensure goals for safety, quality, scheduling, training, and profitability are met for each project, including promotion and implementation of the safety program and QMS.
• Ensure all contractual terms and conditions in both owner contracts and subcontracts are understood by all parties.
• Render decisions and/or take appropriate action(s) based on contractual obligations.
• Monitor the purchasing of all required materials, subcontracts, equipment, and services for project(s) to ensure optimal savings within safety, quality, scheduling, training, and profitability requirements.
• Ensure project staff support and abide by the company’s vision and mission statement.
• Maintain a cooperative and willing work environment with engineering, design, and construction site staff.
• Supervise project managers, assistant project managers, and support personnel, including performance evaluations.
• Operate within budgetary limitations and requirements.
• Ensure "project start-up meetings" are held to align all participating parties on project history, including Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Design Managers, Site Managers, and major subcontractors.
• Visit project sites at least every two weeks.
• Ensure continuity of workflow in the absence or termination of subordinates or project staff.
• Actively support and participate in the Project Managers Association (PMA).
• Ensure project staff issues change orders to subcontractors and customers according to work procedures.
• Ensure project staff completes red files accurately and timely, reviewing them with the Site Manager monthly.
• Document and communicate project delays to all pertinent parties, including producing timely notices and justifying schedule extensions.
• Ensure project staff completes status reports, closeout documents, and maintenance manuals promptly.
• Responsible for communication, implementation, and enforcement of Gray’s safety program on site.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ten to fifteen years of experience in construction management, with a minimum of seven to ten years managing large industrial construction projects.
• Experience as the lead project manager of a construction project is required.
• Preference for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
• Energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment and has a passion for collaboration and professional development.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, talk, or hear.
• Regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.
• Primarily works in a normal office environment with controlled noise, temperature, and humidity.
• Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibrations.
• Noise level on job sites is typically moderate to loud.
• Overtime and travel will be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise project support team members and subcontractors.
