About the role
AWS Compliance & Security Assurance is seeking a Sr. Compliance Specialist to lead the Global Product Compliance (GTPC) team. The role involves developing and overseeing strategies for regulatory compliance across various AWS services and infrastructure. The position requires interaction with AWS teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with global regulations.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end governance controls, SOPs, and policy frameworks across Regulatory Operations, including regulatory research, intelligence management, agency engagement, change monitoring, records management, and compliance auditing.
- Define and execute a scalable regulatory research methodology at country and product levels, reducing market-access cycle time and eliminating regulatory surprises.
- Operationalize engagement protocols and stakeholder maps for government contacts across all jurisdictions, monitoring global regulatory changes and maintaining impact assessment frameworks.
- Enforce records retention controls for post-deployment audits, building audit checklists, sampling methodologies, and reporting templates for consistent execution globally.
- Synthesize compliance data and regulatory intelligence to identify emerging risks and provide insights to leadership on trade-offs between timeline, cost, and market scope.
Requirements
- 7+ years of compliance, audit, or risk management experience
- 8+ years of regulatory frameworks and policy analysis experience
- 10+ years of working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders without direct reporting relationships
- 5+ years of building and operating compliance controls, SOPs, and governance frameworks that have withstood regulatory audit scrutiny
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in regulatory affairs, public policy, international trade, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience implementing scalable compliance solutions in a regulated environment
- Experience in data center, networking engineering, systems engineering, or construction management with a good understanding of data center technologies
- Deep expertise in international certification schemes and post-market surveillance obligations, with experience navigating scheme requirements
- Experience deploying identity and access management or version control systems within compliance workflows to improve traceability and audit readiness
- Master's degree or professional certification (RAC, CRCM, PMP, or equivalent regulatory/governance credential)
