Sr. Closing Associate

Overview

The role of a Sr. Closing Associate at Capital One involves supporting the Commercial Loan Operations Closing Team. This team handles loans for unique or niche industries requiring specialized knowledge and expertise.

Primary Functions

• Review complex loan documents and drive deal closing calls with internal and external teams
• Ensure legal documentation accurately reflects credit approval intentions
• Facilitate teamwork and continuity
• Provide solid knowledge and pursue continuous learning
• Adapt to change and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
• Effectively solve problems and influence strategic initiatives
• Ensure transactions comply with bank policies and regulatory requirements
• Work with Relationship Managers and Underwriters to gather necessary documentation
• Liaise with clients (Underwriter, Relationship Manager, Borrowers, Agent Banks) for pre-closing requirements
• Demonstrate ability to balance regulatory and policy requirements
• Maintain KYC requirements before closing a transaction
• Resolve issues that may hinder closing and involve managers and internal counsel when necessary
• Complete post-closing tasks to ensure downstream partners receive necessary documentation
• Monitor and clear loan exceptions; respond to audit requests
• Book and fund new loans and related activities in the loan accounting system
• Perform process quality reviews such as cash break analysis and system enhancements
• Develop and follow inter-departmental controls and risk-reducing processes
• Prepare and submit departmental, team, and metric reports
• Maintain accuracy and customer satisfaction as top priorities

Living Requirements

• Candidates must live within approximately 50 miles of one of the hub locations in 75024, 23238, or 28203
• Must be comfortable coming in person whenever required with no less than 24 hours notice

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
• At least 2 years of Loan Closing or Loan Servicing experience in Commercial or Business Banking
• Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience preferred
• 3+ years of Commercial Loan Closing or Commercial Loan Servicing experience preferred
• 3+ years of Loan Syndication (agent or participant) experience preferred
• 1+ years of experience with ACBS preferred
