Greetings
Rush University Medical Center, part of Rush Medical Center Hospital, seeks a full-time Administrative Support Staff member for the Emergency Room-ER - Tower. This position supports the operations function.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers, including staff, volunteers, visitors, and guests.
- Order and maintain supplies.
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, screening calls to determine appropriate responses.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and unit operations, presenting implementation suggestions to the manager.
- Prepare and complete paperwork, arrange meetings, input data, compile information, and process files to completion.
- Answer questions, retrieve information, or generate reports for management as needed.
- Receive and log records, files, or paperwork, verifying completeness and accuracy.
- Attend staff meetings on scheduled workdays.
- Accept assignments by leadership.
- Independently offer assistance to peers or other staff members when workload allows.
- Participate in department and Rush quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- One year of business experience.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in computer skills.
- Able to type at least 25 words per minute (wpm).
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Flexible to work seven days a week, 24 hours a day as necessary.
Physical Demands
- Work requires the ability to move throughout the Medical Center.
- Work requires lifting or carrying objects up to 25 lbs.
