Sr. Civil Designer

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to initiate and develop practical, cost-effective, and fully functional civil designs and design drawings for any type of project involving civil engineering through completion. This includes grading, drainage, underground utilities, roadway design, and erosion and sediment control features.

The role requires performing as a Civil Designer on projects, developing civil designs, generating civil design drawings, and coordinating these designs with other disciplines. Work is accomplished with limited direction, determining and developing approaches to solutions, and exercising judgment in selecting methods and techniques.

Problem and task resolution typically spans six to twelve months or more.

Responsibilities

• Sr. Civil Designer IV:
  • Develop complex Civil engineering design drawings under minimal supervision.
  • Apply a solid understanding within the civil discipline.
  • Understand codes, permits, and software applications related to civil engineering.
• Sr. Civil Designer III:
  • Prepare design drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated instructions.
  • Basic understanding of Civil engineers' process of performing and verifying design calculations.
  • Review civil discipline-supplied documents and vendor documents for accuracy and project compliance.
• Sr. Civil Designer II:
  • Ensure compliance of engineering efforts with project schedules, controls, estimates, and company procedures with assistance.
  • Use initiative and judgment in evaluating, modifying, and applying design practices and techniques.
  • Coordinate work with other discipline groups on the project.
• Sr. Civil Designer I:
  • Establish standards of quality and quantity and approve the work of other designers and drafters with assistance.
  • Expert in the use of the company’s civil design software for generating design drawings without assistance.

Requirements

• Sr. Civil Designer IV: Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education; ten (10) years of experience.
• Sr. Civil Designer III: Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education; twelve (12) years of experience.
• Sr. Civil Designer II: Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education; fourteen (14) years of experience.
• Sr. Civil Designer I: Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education; fifteen (15) years of experience.

Pay

Compensation for this role is determined based on a variety of factors including each candidate’s relevant experience, industry background, education, and demonstrated skills. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process and may vary within the posted range.
