Sr Certified Pharmacy Technician

Job Responsibilities

• Processes inpatient and outpatient IP orders for pharmacist verification and dispensing.
• Affords assistance, as assigned, in preparing medications and supplies for dispensing.
• Repackages investigational products into appropriate unit doses, as needed.
• Prepares or compounds extemporaneous products using appropriate techniques under pharmacist supervision.
• Prepares intravenous and/or chemotherapy products in accordance with established procedures.
• Completes annual media fill and fingertip testing to maintain aseptic technique competency, with emphasis on the safe handling of cytotoxic and biohazardous agents.
• Assembles medications, supplies, and equipment, and prepares products according to master worksheets, protocols, and departmental procedures.
• Ensures pharmacist verification of all investigational products prior to dispensing.

Minimum Education and/or Training

• A high school diploma/GED is required.
• Four (4) or more years of relevant experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, with significant experience preferred.
• Experience in comparable operations such as health insurance, healthcare, specialty pharmacy, pharmacy call center, or retail pharmacy is preferred.
• Experience managing compliance with applicable regulations and policies is required.
• Experience working with comparable software systems and databases for maintenance/review of documentation/records is required.
• Experience working with pharmacy personnel and other stakeholders, understanding and supporting complex pharmacy needs with guidance is preferred.
• Proven performance in earlier roles/comparable roles is required.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law

• Pharmacy Technician Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Only

• Apexus Certified Expert (ACE) preferred.
• Pharmacy Basic Life Support (CPR) preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $22.00 - $38.50 per hour for the role of Sr Certified Pharmacy Technician.
