This position is located in La Jolla, CA, and is remote.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day handling of a caseload of line-of-business claims.
• Evaluating information on coverage, liability, and damages to resolve claims on reasonable terms and at an appropriate value.
• Communicate with policyholders, experts, counsel, and others to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company.
• Set reserves within authority or make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor.
• Evaluate claims and make recommendations to management regarding claim resolution plans/strategies.
• Negotiate settlements.
• Retain, direct, and manage litigation counsel.
• Participate in, and sometimes lead, audits of TPA partners.
• Respond to internal and external requests for information from management, underwriters, actuarial, and other business partners.
• Provide outstanding customer service and work well with the insured, broker, and TPA in the adjustment of mainstream casualty and property losses.
• Prepare timely and accurate reports to management regarding significant claim developments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of relevant experience with specialized and technical competence in handling General Liability/Auto claims and Premises Liability claims. Experience with Professional Lines claims is a plus.
• Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing the application of general liability policies, contracts, lease agreements, and risk transfer opportunities.
• Ability to multi-task varied and significant matters.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrable track record of working autonomously, time management skills, and driving progress.
• Intellectually curious, think creatively, and pragmatic.
• Experience in a work environment that requires collaboration across work groups.
• Working knowledge of industry best practices, procedures, and case law.
• Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.
• Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills; ability to deal with customers and business partners professionally.
• Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based on detailed analysis of complex issues.
• Eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Adjuster’s License or willingness to pursue licensure within six months of hire.

Pay

Pay range: $85,000 - $130,000 + bonus potential & participation in our competitive Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Program. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and qualifications.
