Sr Cardiac Spec - Structural Heart Disease - Sharp Memorial Hospital - FT - Days

Hours: Variable shift start and end times. 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week. No weekends or on-call required.

Pay

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position: $53.570 – $69.120 – $77.410. The actual pay rate and pay grade will be dependent on factors such as years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and employer business practices.

Responsibilities

• Apply clinical expertise in evidence-based nursing practice within the cardiac specialty, functioning as a clinical expert, program developer, and educator for both staff and patients.
• Provide focused attention to a specific patient population to enhance and improve patient care and outcomes.
• Clinical Expert:
  • Support the nursing process with evidence-based practice for identified patient populations, including age and culturally appropriate approaches, trend evaluation, innovative solutions, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Facilitate and provide opportunities for improving nurse-sensitive outcomes in selected patient populations.
  • Resolve educational deficits and develop new areas of expertise or skill acquisition applicable to the role.
• Educator:
  • Provide a framework for assigned clinical staff competency validation and professional growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a department-specific nursing competency program.
  • Educate staff on new or advanced applications of skills.
  • Provide a framework for patient and family education in selected patient populations.
• Program Development:
  • Innovate, develop, and coordinate cardiac services programs and education for AMI, CHF, CABG, and Structural Heart.
  • Develop pathways for identified conditions.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with hospital and community resources, the hospital Quality Plan, and appropriate hospital committees.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to process data and effect change.
• Program Implementation:
  • Recognize and communicate at the level of individual learners' needs.
  • Modify the learning process to accommodate specific target populations.
  • Actively participate in organizations focused on the same patient population (e.g., Heart Failure Society, American College of Cardiology, AHA).
• Referral Management:
  • Maintain basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and familiarity with SHC computer programs and databases (Cerner, TSI).
  • Maintain clinical knowledge of cardiac disease processes for the targeted patient population.
  • Notify appropriate resources when issues or problems arise.
  • Achieve results independently and on own initiative.
• Teamwork:
  • Collaborate with patients, nursing staff, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to provide quality, cost-effective care to the targeted patient population.
  • Use effective communication skills and demonstrate organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities.
  • Demonstrate conflict resolution and team-building skills to provide direction, goal setting, and attainment of goals.

Requirements

• California Registered Nurse (RN) – CA Board of Registered Nursing (REQUIRED).
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association (REQUIRED).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
• Master's Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
• 5 years of cardiac experience (Preferred).
