Sr Cardiac Spec - Structural Heart Disease - Sharp Memorial Hospital - FT - Days

Hours: Variable shift start and end times, 8-hour shifts (40 hours per week). No weekends or on-call required.

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade will depend on factors such as years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and employer business practices.

• Hourly Pay Range: $53.570 – $69.120 (Midpoint) – $77.410

What You Will Do

The Cardiac Nurse Specialist applies clinical expertise in evidence-based nursing practice within a specialty area and functions in the following roles: clinical expert, program developer, and educator of both staff and patients. Provides focused attention to a specific patient population to enhance and improve patient care and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Expert
  • Supports the nursing process by applying evidence-based practice to identified patient populations, including age and culturally appropriate approaches, evaluation of trends, innovative solutions, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Facilitates and provides opportunities for improving nurse-sensitive outcomes in selected patient populations.
  • Resolves educational deficits and develops new areas of expertise or skill acquisition applicable to the role.
• Educator
  • Provides a framework for assigned clinical staff competency validation and professional growth opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains department-specific nursing competency programs.
  • Educates staff on new or advanced applications of skills.
  • Provides a framework for patient and family education in selected patient populations.
• Program Development
  • Innovates, develops, and coordinates cardiac services programs and education for AMI, CHF, CABG, and Structural Heart.
  • Develops pathways for identified conditions.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with hospital and community resources, the hospital Quality Plan, and appropriate hospital committees.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to process data and effect change.
• Program Implementation
  • Recognizes and communicates at the level of individual learners' needs.
  • Modifies the learning process to accommodate specific target populations.
  • Actively participates in organizations focused on the same patient population (e.g., Heart Failure Society, American College of Cardiology, AHA).
• Referral Management
  • Maintains basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and familiarity with SHC computer programs and databases (Cerner, TSI).
  • Maintains clinical knowledge of cardiac disease processes for the targeted patient population.
  • Notifies appropriate resources when issues or problems arise.
  • Achieves results independently and on own initiative.
• Teamwork
  • Works collaboratively with patients, nursing staff, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to provide quality, cost-effective care to the targeted patient population.

Requirements

• California Registered Nurse (RN) license – required
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification – required

Qualifications

• Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • 5 years of cardiac experience
