About the Role

Senior Calibration Technician is the highest-level technician position at Transcat, requiring a minimum of six (6) years of commercial calibration experience. Technicians at this level calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust higher-level equipment across at least eight (8) disciplines, with expert knowledge in three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure). Proficiency is determined via Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix. This role involves independent work in labs or at customer sites with limited supervision. CCT or CMT certification is desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration work with little to no supervision
• Conduct independent research as needed
• Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from the service manager
• Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
• Maintain calibration standards
• Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements
• Read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation
• Work effectively with lab support staff
• Demonstrate working knowledge and competency in eight (8) disciplines, with expertise in three (3)
• Perform calibrations in laboratory or customer onsite settings
• Work at customer sites with little to no direction
• Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, adhering to Company requirements and standards
• Other duties as assigned
• Travel up to 50% of the work schedule

Primary Objectives:

• Apply high-level skills, techniques, and processes to calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust high-volume, high-level equipment with minimal errors
• Coordinate the lab’s work schedule
• Prepare detailed analysis of calibration processes and uncertainties
• Develop and implement process improvements
• Develop team lead skills and responsibilities
• Train and advise lower-level technicians
• Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)

Requirements

• Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom instruction
• Elite interpersonal and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Self-motivated learner with the ability to acquire new calibration-related skills
• Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
• Strong communication with supervisors, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• 3+ years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate’s degree from a college or technical school; or six+ (6+) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

• Six+ (6+) years of commercial calibration experience
• CCT or CMT certification
• Extensive statistical background
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Advanced organizational and time management skills
• Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics
