About the role

As a Procurement Specialist, you will identify and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, parts, services, and supplies necessary for company operations. Key considerations include cost-effectiveness, quality standards, specifications, and manufacturing schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Select, interview, and analyze potential vendors to assess their ability to provide needed parts, materials, and services.
  • Determine the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and required schedules.
  • Review proposals, negotiate prices and favorable terms, and recommend vendors that meet company standards.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, follow up on orders, verify/expedite delivery, approve payments, resolve vendor issues, and maintain records.
  • Maintain positive vendor relations and interface with departments such as QC and Engineering regarding material substitutions or rejections.
  • Review ERP material requirements and release purchase requisitions for approval.
  • Collaborate with Maryland’s procurement personnel and support special projects.
  • Work safely, follow departmental and plant safety rules, and report unsafe conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Engineering, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Eight (8) or more years of related procurement experience in a manufacturing and standard cost environment.
  • Medium to advanced proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
  • Experience with company ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills sufficient to understand and communicate company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

$80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience. Relocation assistance is not available.

Schedule

1st shift, on-site Monday through Friday.
