Buyer Pliant Plastics | Spring Lake, MI | Full-Time About the RolePliant Plastics is seeking a Buyer to join our team in Spring Lake, Michigan. The Buyer plays a key role in supporting procurement activities across direct and indirect categories, including MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) supplies, services, and raw materials. Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager and operations teams, you'll help ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services that meet Pliant's quality standards. What You'll DoAssist with the procurement of materials, components, and supplies needed for production and operations.Issue purchase orders and follow up on order confirmations, delivery schedules, and lead times.Communicate with suppliers to track shipments, resolve delivery or quality issues, and maintain strong vendor relationships.Maintain accurate purchasing records and system data within Pliant's MRP/ERP system.Monitor inventory levels for MRO and indirect supplies and reorder as needed.Implement and manage kanban systems for indirect materials and supplies.Support sourcing efforts by obtaining quotes, evaluating pricing, and comparing supplier options.Assist with monthly data collection to support supplier scorecard development.Coordinate with receiving, accounting, and production teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and shipment errors.Assist with vendor onboarding and maintenance of approved supplier lists.Support new part setups and completion of launch iterations.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing costs and improving procurement processes.Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and Pliant's Environmental Management System.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. What We're Looking ForAssociate's degree or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.1–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a supply chain support role; manufacturing experience preferred.Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems; PLEX experience preferred.Knowledge of procurement practices and supplier management.APS, APICS, ISM, CPSM, or similar certifications are a plus. Skills & Competencies:Strong organizational and time-management skills.Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and MRP databases.Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, finance, program management, and quality teams.A problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn and continuously improve systems, practices, and procedures.
