Sr. Buyer

About the role

Reviews, analyzes, and places orders for indirect purchase requisitions supporting Teledyne Environmental (12 facilities). Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire non-inventory items in a cost-effective and timely manner. Processes purchase requisitions and requests for quotes to suppliers. Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase non-core goods and services such as marketing, facilities, professional services, and engineering projects to support daily operations.
• Ensure timely and compliant procurement of goods and services.
• Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and compliance with contracts.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure favorable terms with suppliers to optimize cost efficiency.
• Monitor and analyze indirect spend to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement processes.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation strategies in procurement activities.
• Work closely with internal departments to understand procurement needs and provide appropriate solutions.
• Interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues as needed.
• Implement best practices, optimize procurement workflows, and track key performance metrics such as purchase order cycle time and supplier quality.
• Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.
• Work closely with the Accounts Payable department daily to resolve invoice issues and discrepancies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in a related field and 4-5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
