Sr. Buyer

About the role

The Sr. Buyer is responsible for procurement of raw materials and components needed for repackaging prescription pharmaceuticals through strong tactical execution and strategic supplier relationship management. The individual will own critical processes such as At‑Risk Inventory Processes and Contingency Stock Process, collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to develop action plans, and report performance key indicators, risks, and required actions to meet customer requirements. Regular collaboration with Corporate Business Development, Sales Ops, and Operations peers is required to mitigate supply constraints and support company growth.

Responsibilities

• Review MRP and manage Purchase Orders, including placement, follow‑up, expedites, and push‑outs as required.
• Maintain and monitor key performance metrics (on‑time delivery, fill rate, quality, service) and collaborate with suppliers to develop improvement action plans.
• Lead monthly meetings with assigned supplier partners to discuss forecasts, industry news, supply‑constraint mitigation, metric reviews, and action plans.
• Support and lead significant issue resolution with suppliers and relevant functions (Supplier Quality, Business Development, Sales Ops, Supply Chain).
• Communicate proactively any inventory supply constraints to minimize impact on service levels and inventory targets.
• Support new product launches and ensure direct‑materials purchasing meets target dates.
• Manage At‑Risk Inventory processes, reviewing data, metrics, trends, and creating action plans to minimize scrap; hold cross‑functional stakeholder meetings and drive continuous improvement.
• Interact with finance, receiving, and incoming quality inspection to resolve invoice and delivery discrepancies and handle missing paperwork.
• Contribute as a team member and provide leadership on projects as applicable.
• Leverage Engineering Change Control (ECR) to implement cGMP changes.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that improve compliance and deliver cost benefits.
• Recommend strategies, process improvements, and other value‑added initiatives.
• Work independently and in a team environment, making decisions based on analysis of supplier proposals and partnership management.

Requirements

• CPSM certification is a significant plus.
• Understanding of the generic pharmaceutical market and manufacturers is helpful.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive, accurate reports and leverage data to drive key performance indicators.
• Strong ERP skillset; familiarity with Syspro (ERP system) is a plus.
• Solid Microsoft Office competency, especially spreadsheet and database management.
• Strong analytical skills; understanding of ROP methodology for planning is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment with shifting priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Pay

The hiring range for this position in Camarillo, CA is $90,000 to $110,000 per year. Base pay will consider internal equity, geographic region, knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package.
