About the Role
Supports Business Development activities through identification, scientific evaluation, and analysis of potential licensing opportunities and partnerships in the biopharmaceutical space. Conducts comprehensive search and evaluation activities and generates competitive landscapes focused on identifying promising therapeutic assets and technologies to expand the company's pipeline. Performs detailed scientific assessment of opportunities, including analysis of mechanism of action, preclinical/clinical data, and therapeutic/market potential.
Responsibilities
- Manages projects regarding business development transactions anywhere from early development through commercialization
- Leads cross-functional internal and external project teams and meets pre-defined objectives and timelines
- Leads and assists with due diligence on potential business development opportunities, including product and technology assessment
- Leads valuation work on potential business development opportunities
- Monitors industry trends, companies, technologies, and therapeutic areas of relevance to the Company
- Partners closely with the Research and Development teams to determine priority and focus of external opportunities
- Coordinates both internal and external diligence team meetings
- Develops and reviews contracts in close collaboration with Legal, IP, and Finance teams
- Coordinates the Company’s efforts at partnering conferences
- Outreaches to potential collaborators, including academic centers and prospective corporate partners
- Assists with background research on topics such as novel targets, therapeutic areas, companies, and competitive landscapes
- Works with vendors, investment banks, or other third-party consultants assisting Neurocrine on BD opportunities
- Creates and reviews BD presentations
- Assists in the building and maintenance of the BD team infrastructure
- Ensures all interactions are compliant with internal policies, governmental regulations, and best practices
- Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

Requirements
- BS/BA degree in life sciences, finance, business, or similar field and 8+ years of business development, venture capital, investment research, investment banking, corporate development, or related experience; 2+ years of biotechnology/pharmaceutical in scientific-based role preferred
- OR Master's degree in scientific field or MBA and 6+ years of similar experience noted above
- OR PhD in scientific field and 4+ years of similar experience noted above
- Demonstrated knowledge of search and evaluation with preclinical and clinical stage assets and platforms in Neurology/Immunology/Endocrinology/Psychiatry across therapeutic modalities including, but not limited to, small molecules, antibodies, peptides, oligonucleotides, gene therapy
- Demonstrated functional expertise working in a Biotech/Pharma industry R&D setting with some experience in a business development, venture capital, investment research, investment banking, and/or corporate development function
- Strong scientific acumen to identify key differentiation factors of potential partner programs/platforms and ability to take meticulous notes
- Strong understanding of biotechnology/pharmaceutical competitive landscape
- Strong knowledge of biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
- Excellent project management and strong project leadership skills
- Apply strong demonstration of business, IP, and legal comprehension to deal-making
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; strong sense of urgency, accuracy, and follow-through
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels; excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions
- Mastery of the MS Office suite of products
Pay
The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $158,100.00-$216,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program.
