Sr. Business Analyst

The Opportunity

The Sr. Business Analyst is a vital link between Cost/Financial Accounting and Manufacturing Operations. As part of the Finance Team, this position is the keeper of accurate labor, yield, and usage information regarding material volumes, material costs, and movements. This information is used by various teams to manage cost of product, inventory, and earned labor. This analyst also assists with financial reporting activities (e.g., budgeting, balance sheet recs, journal entries, etc.).

Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-Life

• Provide timely and accurate daily and weekly cost reporting to the plant management team.
• Provide accurate weekly / monthly forecasts for overall plant results in a timely manner.
• Work with manufacturing/engineering/finance to put in place more efficient and accurate processes.
• Manage inventory through physical counting and prepare posting of cycle counts, inventory disposals, and follow up on issues.
• Aid in financial reporting activities (e.g., journal entries, balance sheet recs, etc.)
• As part of the Finance team, assist managers in managing their budgets, as well as participating in period-end duties where required.
• Participate in Six Sigma projects and identify, recommend, and support cost improvement opportunities.
• Ensure new product costing is developed from development to launch and ensure current product costs accurately reflect the manufacturing process.
• Collaborate with purchasing and sourcing on multiple fronts, including resolving AP queries, purchasing/receiving issues, and vendor setups.
• Work with QA to clear blocked inventory in a timely manner.
• Ensure accounting procedures adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approved corporate policies.
• Act as a C3 custodian to ensure critical inventory and purchasing procedures are in control, and responsible for Quarterly Self-Test submissions.
• Support Production Management and Material Control with regular inventory cycle reviews, performing re-counts and random verification checks when required/applicable, posting of cycle counts, inventory disposals, and following up on issues.
• Perform periodic analysis of overhead spending and provide management with the information required to make future spending decisions.
• Collaborate with the Finance Manager on ad-hoc requests as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• Post-secondary education in a finance/business-related program required.
• 2+ years of progressive manufacturing costing experience in an ERP environment (SAP preferred).
• Working towards or completion of a professional accounting designation is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coach and mentor others.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work and drive improvements within a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial functions.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office and experience with SAP.
