Sr. Business Analyst
Facilitate the analysis, design, and implementation of eApplication (Electronics Order Entry) platform solutions to support internal and external requirements in the most effective and efficient manner for F&G business units and external customers.
About the role
As part of the Electronic Distributor Interfaces (EDI) team, this role works closely with IT staff and multiple business units—Operations, Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Claims, Legal/Compliance—to identify and document optimal solutions for critical business needs. The position coordinates testing efforts with outside vendors and distributors, requiring strong professional communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert for Electronic Order Entry (eApplication) and data feed areas.
- Mentor and train less seasoned team members to develop expertise.
- Develop and maintain eApplication product offerings.
- Serve as a primary interface with the business for Firelight and other eApplication tools, providing support, communication, and training.
- Assist with interpreting user requirements into feasible options and communicate them to business stakeholders via requirements documents.
- Translate conceptual user requirements into clear functional requirements for the eApplication Business Analyst.
- Evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level details, and distinguish user requests from underlying needs.
- Follow the company’s SDLC and project lifecycle to manage requirements documentation and coordinate with other departments.
- Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Plan, design, and recommend business process improvements to support business activities.
- Identify opportunities for enhanced user experience and anticipate future business needs.
- Evaluate critical system defects, prioritize based on business impact, and work toward solutions.
- Provide eApplication systems expertise to users, business partners, and internal/external customers, including troubleshooting and correcting inefficiencies.
- May be located with the business unit or work fully remote with periodic visits to the F&G Home Office in Des Moines, IA.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
- 5–10 years of experience in the financial services industry.
- 5+ years of Business Analysis experience with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
- 3–5 years of experience enhancing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic order entry platforms.
- Insurance industry experience and knowledge of Annuity/Life products strongly preferred.
- ACORD Certified Expert (ACE) highly desired.
- LOMA designations such as FLMI are highly desired.
- Primarily sedentary work with long periods of sitting, regular computer use, and occasional standing or walking; reasonable accommodations available.
