Total Rewards focuses on the design of a holistic framework of financial and non-financial rewards that reflects the organization’s strategy to attract, motivate, and retain employees including: researching and analyzing key perspectives (employee, external labor market, cost, and workforce requirements); incorporating traditional compensation and benefits elements including career frameworks, and work/life benefits; ongoing management, communication, and monitoring of plan results.
About the role
The Sr. Benefits Analyst is responsible for escalated operation and compliance concerns of the company’s group health and welfare and retirement programs. Expected activities include developing and managing various benefit programs, vendor management, process improvement, and enrollment and cost analysis. The incumbent works closely with HRIS, Payroll, Finance and HR Business Partner teams in the performance of their responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Understand and administer government regulations and plan provisions accordingly to ensure compliance on all benefit plans
- In collaboration with other HR team members, define and execute against an escalation path for resolution of advanced benefits questions or problems
- Ensure plans are compliant with local, state and federal regulations, including timely and accurate completion of all required government filings, and distribution of required participant plan disclosures
- Oversee 401(k) non-discrimination testing, 5500 audits and filings, ACA filings, dependent care FSA non-discrimination testing
- Establish and execute audits of all benefit plans to ensure compliance and support timely payments to vendors
- Manage vendor relationships and assist with vendor selection and implementation projects
- Identify opportunities for continual process improvement
- Manage all aspects of absence management, to including partnering with disability/FMLA vendor on STD, LTD, FMLA, K12 Non-FMLA and state mandated leave programs. Effectively collaborate with HR team and payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing and payment of leave benefits
- Administer K12’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) process, including collaboration with legal counsel and company leaders to implement reasonable accommodations
- Administer K12’s retirement plan and state retirement plans, including processing electronic notifications from record keeper and trustee, Form 5500 audit and filings, annual non-discrimination testing preparation and execution, research and implementation of required state retirement plans, and reconciliation of administration errors to ensure compliance with plan and government regulations
- Understand tuition assistance benefits under Section 127 and fringe benefits under Section 132 and administers the benefits appropriately
- Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, 2-4 years related professional experience
Skills
- Knowledge of benefit regulations, including health care reform (Affordable Care Act – ACA), HIPAA
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to organize and lead a project to completion
- Proven ability to solve complex problems
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive and confidential matters effectively
- Proven ability managing vendor relationships
- Proven success managing the benefits enrollment and eligibility processes for mid-size employee population
- Experience with benefit module(s) of HRIS applications such as Ultimate Software, Workday, Oracle, etc.
- Ability to travel 5% of the time
Benefits
Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $67,843.39 to $80,000.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.

Remote work is available. The position requires some evenings/weekends – as needed by management and client groups.
