About the role
The Truist Senior Audit Manager provides a leadership role in delivering value-added, independent, and objective risk-based internal audit assurance and advisory services. This position develops and maintains specialization in specific areas of financial services, assists in line-of-business relationship management, and supports risk monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Engagement Manager for large, complex, and higher-risk projects, potentially enterprise-wide in scope.
- Lead planning, scoping, and development of audit test plans, incorporating data analytics, and coordinate engagement resources to complete assignments within budget while maintaining quality standards.
- Set clear quality expectations based on Truist Audit Services standards and analyze/review process documentation to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop meaningful, relevant, and well-supported audit reports aligned with Truist’s risk appetite framework and present them to key stakeholders.
- Advise on complex assignments with deep knowledge of the organization, business, operations, and related laws and regulations.
- Leverage strong risk management expertise to assess audit findings, potential exposures, materiality, and demonstrate awareness of broader issues.
- Provide leadership and development by coaching and mentoring new and junior team members, including setting clear performance expectations.
- Assist audit management in developing and maintaining relationships with assigned lines of business or business units, evaluating associated risk profiles to ensure appropriate audit coverage.
- Participate in key/critical projects and task forums.
- Manage timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including audits, projects, and special assignments.
- Maintain and further develop specialization in one or more specific lines of business.
- Stay abreast of current trends, new developments, technologies, and practices in the auditing profession, banking industry, and area of specialization.
- Develop knowledge of auditing and data analysis techniques, championing innovative methods to accomplish goals and objectives.
- Pursue continuing education and additional professional certifications, as appropriate.
- Support Audit Directors by assisting with annual planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and providing feedback on audit team performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Eight to ten years of audit experience, preferably in a role similar to an Audit Project Leader.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in audit and a broad understanding of multiple areas of banking and financial services.
- Substantial leadership experience with demonstrated decision-making skills.
- Excellent understanding of risk management and process concepts.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and negotiating skills.
- Ability to identify underlying concepts in complex information and communicate them effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate root causes of problems.
- Proficiency in standard software applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Strong project management and advisory skills.
- Appropriate professional certification (e.g., Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certified Public Accountant).
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- Knowledge of Truist Audit Services audit software and business-specific software.
Pay
Annual base salary for this position is $136,000 - $170,000 (for work locations in Virginia only).
