About the Role

Conducts tests for description and diagnosis of auditory pathology to neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric patients. Develops and implements rehabilitation programs for the hearing handicapped and consults on diagnostic and rehabilitation services for speech and language disorders. Collaborates with physicians, hearing aid dispensers, community resources, patients, and families to create appropriate care plans. Provides efficient and effective clinical care using technical skills, organizational abilities, and critical thinking. Models, mentors, and trains staff on technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and creates treatment programs based on identified needs.
• Evaluates patient responses to interventions and modifies treatment plans as needed.
• Assesses the need for aural rehabilitation and conducts hearing aid selection.
• Provides hearing aid user orientation, auditory training, and consults with patients and families regarding problems and implications.
• Documents patient care timely in accordance with established policies and procedures for regulatory and payer compliance.
• Ensures staff members can treat clients with minimal explanation and performs chart audits.
• Supervises hearing technicians, students, and volunteers; participates in orientation, training, and performance reviews.
• Performs consultations, evaluations, and assessments; identifies problem areas and abnormal findings.
• Administers diagnostic hearing tests, including audiological evaluations, impedance testing, site of lesion testing, electronystagmography, and auditory brain stem evoked response testing.
• Serves as a technical specialist on daily tasks and cases; trains and mentors staff.
• Assists in the maintenance of audiology equipment and supplies; coordinates calibration and servicing.
• Cleans equipment or arranges cleaning according to infection control recommendations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in audiology or speech language pathology or equivalent (required).
• Master’s Degree (preferred).
• Three years of audiologist experience (preferred).
• Audiology licensure in the state of practice (required).
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor (required).
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (preferred).
• Audiology (AUD) or State Audiology (SAUD) certification (required).

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $40.33 to $55.32 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
