About the role

L3Harris is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform integration, test, installation, and customer support, as well as performing necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of Recon systems. The position also includes testing and approval of operational quality of system equipment, instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of the system, and serving as company liaison with the customer on administrative and technical matters. Up to 30 days of continuous travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair, integration, and testing per procedures of ES-3601, ES-3701, and ES-5080 Recon LRU’s and Systems.
  • Perform field installation of Recon systems within the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) customer sites.
  • Set up and operate Radio Frequency (RF) test equipment in accordance with test procedures.
  • Utilize RF test equipment to demonstrate proper function or to analyze malfunctions using manufacturer’s manuals and specifications.
  • Repair, replace, and adjust equipment or components.
  • Inspect RF components of equipment for accurate assembly and for defects such as loose screws, nuts connections, and frayed wires.
  • Consult with other Field Engineers, supervisors, and other engineers to plan layout of equipment and to resolve problems in system operations and maintenance.
  • Perform installation of repaired equipment in various settings, such as industrial and military establishments.
  • Climb both vertical ladders and stairways and work in tight spaces; stand, kneel, and extend overhead for prolonged periods of time.
  • Complete all required documentation for review and submission.
  • Interpret customers' needs and clarify responsibility for problem resolution when the responsibility falls to Program Management or Business Development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting equipment, reading, and interpreting RF/electronic/mechanical schematics.
  • 4 years of related military experience or a 2-year technical degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to acquire Secret Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
  • Technical understanding of military (and/or civilian) Radar/Recon equipment in RF Defense environments.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Radar/Communications systems principles, theory, and application in practice.
  • Experience testing, packing, shipping, installing, and operating RF/systems/equipment at various remote locations.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs of RF systems/equipment by reading and interpreting schematics and by using simple and complex test equipment.

Pay

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $67,000 - $124,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.

Schedule

9/80—Employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, and have every other Friday off.
