About the Role

The Senior Assistant Manager (SAM) reports to the Store Manager and is a critical entry-level management position. The SAM plays a crucial role in managing day-to-day store activities, including supervising store associates (except those directly supervised by the Store Manager). In the absence of the Store Manager or upon delegation, the SAM fulfills all Store Manager duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and Organizing – Plans and organizes work to meet labor matrix requirements.
  • Analytical Skills – Utilizes P&L, RMIA, Labor, Bottom of Basket Scan (BOB), and other daily operating reports to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Budgeting and Budget Performance – Establishes accurate budget projections and operates within store budgets.
  • Merchandising Presentation – Maintains full, properly-merchandised displays throughout the store.
  • Internal Controls Compliance – Adheres to all internal standards set by audit programs.
  • Shrink Control – Manages Company assets according to established guidelines.
  • Inventory Management Control – Maintains inventory levels and monitors in-stock conditions.
  • Sanitation – Ensures sanitation standards are maintained at acceptable levels.
  • Motivation and Teamwork – Motivates associates to perform assigned functions and achieve objectives.
  • Associate Training and Development – Selects, trains, and develops associates for effective and productive performance.
  • Decision Making, Problem Solving, and Follow-Through – Analyzes problems, determines appropriate action, and implements solutions promptly.
  • Customer Satisfaction – Leads the team in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Communication – Communicates effectively with all groups in the organization, customers, and vendors, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using email, basic Excel, payroll, DSD, manager specials/price change programs, and new software as implemented. Knowledgeable in the use of all handheld devices.

Requirements

  • At least one of the following: Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Retail Management Certificate (RMCP), or enrollment in one RMCP course.
  • Prior work experience in retail operations or equivalent experience as determined by Company management.
  • Basic understanding of computer operations, marketing, finance, and human resources.

Pay

Starting annual salary: $62,889.20
