Sr. Application Administrator – Document Management

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain business applications and other enterprise software systems.
  • Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Provide tier-2/3 support to end-users, resolving technical issues, and escalating complex problems to vendors or additional IT staff as needed.
  • Manage user access, permissions, and security configurations in line with company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX).
  • Coordinate and execute application updates, patches, and upgrades, including testing in staging environments to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for application configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Conduct user training sessions and create support materials to enhance adoption and efficiency.
  • Perform regular audits and backups to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Assess integration requirements between business applications and third-party systems, designing and testing interfaces to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.
  • Develop and execute test cases for application changes, including updates, customizations, and integrations, to validate functionality, performance, and compatibility before production deployment.
  • Perform root cause analysis on application incidents, errors, and outages, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures to improve system resilience.
  • Participate in system architecture reviews and design sessions, evaluating scalability, reliability, and alignment with long-term business objectives.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure systems administrators to ensure optimal server performance, network connectivity, hardware compatibility, and resource allocation for business applications.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity analysts to implement security controls, conduct vulnerability assessments, respond to incidents, and ensure application compliance with cybersecurity policies.
  • Partner with database administrators to manage data structures, optimize database queries, perform data migrations, and maintain data integrity across integrated systems.
  • Coordinate with other IT professionals, including developers, network engineers, and project managers, on cross-functional initiatives such as system integrations, custom developments, and IT infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in design or delivery roles for Architecture, Engineering, or Construction organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience in application administration, preferably with electronic document management systems or other information management solutions.
  • Strong expertise querying databases with SQL.
  • Strong expertise automating tasks with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python).
  • Expertise with at least one major document management platform (e.g., Alfresco, OpenText, Documentum).
  • Experience with cloud-based (SaaS) and on-prem business applications.
  • Experience with operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux) and related application servers (e.g. IIS, WebLogic, Tomcat).
  • Familiarity with reporting and data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Business Objects).
  • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with data integration tools (e.g. Informatica, MuleSoft).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings.
  • Relevant application administration certifications preferred.
