What To Expect
Tesla's Industrial Products team is seeking a Senior Analyst focused on technoeconomic modeling to support product strategy, pricing, and roadmap decisions for Megapack, our industrial storage solution, and other industrial products.
What You'll Do
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve total cost of ownership (TCO) and capital project finance models for industrial energy products, including project finance and LCOE/LCOS analysis
- Model revenue stacking and merchant market scenarios — quantifying the value of energy storage across energy arbitrage, capacity, ancillary services, and demand charge reduction
- Deliver regular reporting on model outputs, market economics, and product value metrics — including monthly executive-facing updates
- Partner with Product Managers to incorporate the latest product specifications, cost inputs, and configuration options into models
- Collaborate with the Sales Tools team to automate reporting workflows and integrate modeling outputs into quoting and analysis platforms
- Gather and validate inputs from Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to ensure model accuracy and relevance
- Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity studies to bound uncertainty and inform product and pricing decisions
- Support competitive benchmarking by modeling competitor product economics where data is available
- Present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, making complex tradeoffs easy to understand and act on
- Maintain model documentation, version control, and testing discipline to ensure outputs are reliable and auditable
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in financial modeling, technoeconomic analysis, or project finance — preferably in energy, infrastructure, or cleantech
- Deep expertise in building and maintaining complex models in Excel; proficiency in Python or SQL a strong plus
- Familiarity with LCOE, LCOS, and capital project finance structures — including PPA/offtake structures, IRR, NPV
- Experience with energy storage or renewable energy market economics, including revenue stacking and merchant price forecasting, strongly preferred
- Proficiency in data visualization tools to communicate model outputs effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to structure complex problems and communicate results clearly
- Comfortable working across engineering, finance, and commercial teams to gather inputs and align on assumptions
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Genuine interest in the economics of energy storage and how product decisions drive value in the market
- Loves numbers and excel
