About the role

Honeywell Aerospace is undergoing a Digital Engineering Transformation to deploy model-based systems engineering (MBSE) capabilities and tools, accelerating innovation and improving product quality. The Control Systems (CS) Air and Thermal Systems (A&TS) organization is seeking a Senior Advanced MBSE Engineer to drive adoption of MBSE processes and tools across aircraft platforms, including Air Transport, Regional, Business, Urban Air Mobility, and Military aircraft. This role reports to the Sr. Systems Engineer Manager for the Controls Systems Integration group and is based in Tempe, AZ or Torrance, CA on a hybrid schedule. New hires must work 100% onsite for the first 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in A&TS to adopt Honeywell Aerospace MBSE processes and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to the A&TS group for the use of Cameo and other MBSE tools.
  • Develop and enable Digital Thread integration use cases for the A&TS group, connecting Cameo with other key Digital Engineering tools such as DOORS NG and Teamcenter.
  • Lead A&TS MBSE pilot projects and support proposal responses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of Aerospace systems, control development, or hardware/software experience.
  • Strong knowledge of MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM Rhapsody) and methodologies (e.g., SysML).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in training and mentoring team members on MBSE principles and tools.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

We value

  • Certifications in MBSE or related fields (e.g., INCOSE).
  • Experience in systems engineering, particularly in model-based approaches.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools for integrated systems (mechanical, electrical, and software).
  • Experience with requirement management tools such as IBM DOORS/ELM.
  • Experience with MATLAB Simulink.
  • Technical excellence and leadership with a proven track record of delivering robust technical solutions on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering technical processes including requirements validation and decomposition, ARP4754A or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Aerospace standards for Environmental Test (DO-160), Software Development (DO-178C), and Electronic Hardware Development (DO-254).
  • Technical experience in control system design, including closed-loop control and logic definition.
  • Experience with air and thermal systems, including pressure and flow management, heat transfer, and vapor cycle systems.
