Your Role On The Expedition

The Senior Actuarial Analyst is a mid-level position for an experienced candidate that leads, for the successful candidate, ultimately to a role of significant importance to the success of Generali’s travel insurance line of business. A comprehensive exam program including financial support and study time is provided for highly motivated candidates who can progress through the examinations of the Casualty Actuarial Society, ultimately leading to Associateship or Fellowship in the CAS.

Highly developed programming skills are critical to success in this role. This position provides skill and expertise in the areas of data acquisition, presentation, reconciliation, actuarial rate indications, loss reserve analysis, and/or financial or generalized linear modeling. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will perform complex actuarial analyses under minimal supervision.

Your Ticket To Success

  • 5+ years of actuarial experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Excel
  • Extensive experience extracting and manipulating data, preferably using SQL, Python, R, VBA, or a similar programming language
  • Advanced skills in data acquisition, manipulation, and analysis using programming languages
  • Able and willing to continue participation in the actuarial exam program
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and the internet
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Able to assess unusual circumstances and use sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify the cause
  • Able to resolve and assess a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggest variations in approach
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of information requires evaluation of identifiable factors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of at least 3 actuarial exams preferred

Education/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or economics; or computer science with a strong secondary concentration or minor in one of above

Position Coordinates

This is a hybrid role based out of our San Diego, CA office. As a hybrid role, you will be working onsite 2-3 days a week and working from home 2-3 days a week. Time For Take-off While there is some flexibility in the hours, this position will be Monday-Friday during regular business hours (approximately 8:00am-5:00pm). Occasional overtime may be required according to business need.
