Your Opportunity Chewy is seeking a Sr. Accounting Manager to support accounting operations and financial oversight for designated business units. Reporting to the Director, Controllership, this role will be responsible for leading the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial results, and driving strong accounting practices across assigned areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who partners closely with Finance, Accounting, and operational teams to support business growth, integration activities, process improvements, and scalable financial operations. What You’ll Do Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for assigned business units, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete financial reportingReview journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analyses, and supporting schedules to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policiesServe as the primary accounting partner for business unit leadership, Finance, FP&A, and cross-functional stakeholdersEnsure the accuracy and integrity of business unit financial results and maintain accountability for balance sheet and income statement activitySupport accounting integration activities related to acquisitions, new business initiatives, and organizational changesPartner with cross-functional teams to evaluate operational changes and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and financial reporting impactsIdentify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and control effectivenessSupport internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, analysis, and responses to inquiriesMaintain and strengthen internal controls and SOX compliance within assigned areas of responsibilityCollaborate with Technical Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax, Treasury, and other Accounting teams to resolve accounting issues and support business initiativesDevelop reporting and analytical tools to improve visibility into business performance and accounting operationsFoster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement What You’ll Need Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA required5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading month-end close processesPrior experience in public accounting, industry accounting, or a combination of both preferredStrong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirementsExperience partnering with cross-functional business stakeholders in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic organizationExperience reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysesUnderstanding of internal controls and SOX compliance requirementsExperience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools (Oracle, NetSuite, SAP, or similar preferred)Proven leadership experience, including coaching and developing accounting professionalsStrong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution What You’ll Get A place where you can be your authentic self and grow your career.
