Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Visalia, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This role partners closely with financial leadership to support accurate reporting, maintain strong accounting controls, and provide meaningful analysis that reflects the company’s financial performance. The position also oversees key transactional accounting activities and helps ensure month-end and year-end deliverables are completed efficiently and on schedule. Responsibilities:• Partner with the Controller to prepare financial reports, interpret results, and compare actual performance against budgets and forecasts.• Lead month-end closing activities to ensure entries, reconciliations, and reporting are completed accurately and within established deadlines.• Oversee accounts receivable, grower accounting activities from intake through settlement, and inventory accounting for non-produce items.• Review financial records and variance reports to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and support reliable reporting.• Maintain organized supporting documentation that meets audit standards and strengthens overall record accuracy.• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.• Contribute to management reporting by developing financial analysis, forecast support, and clear explanations of performance trends.• Recommend and support improvements to accounting procedures, internal controls, and operational workflows.• Assist with annual audit preparation by gathering schedules, documentation, and responses needed by external auditors. • 5+ years of accounting experience, including responsibility for financial reporting and month-end close activities. • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations. • Experience managing or supporting accounts receivable and bank reconciliation processes. • Ability to analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate findings clearly to leadership. • Familiarity with maintaining audit-ready documentation and supporting annual external audit requirements. • Background in manufacturing or inventory-based environments is preferred. • Proven ability to prioritize deadlines, maintain accuracy, and work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
