Responsibilities
- Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and ensuring financial results are recorded accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain the general ledger through detailed account analysis, reconciliations, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations while monitoring transactions for completeness and accuracy.
- Support manufacturing accounting by evaluating product costs, maintaining standard costing data, and reviewing cost-related trends.
- Analyze variances between actual and expected results and provide clear explanations to management.
- Oversee fixed asset and lease accounting processes, including record maintenance, depreciation, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to review bill of materials information and confirm accurate cost structures within the system.
- Prepare financial reports and analytical summaries that help leadership assess performance and operational results.
- Utilize D365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to manage accounting data, improve reporting, and support process efficiency.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong working knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation.
- Experience with cost accounting concepts, including standard costing and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Familiarity with fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, and financial variance review.
- Proficiency with D365 or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to interpret bill of materials data and apply it to inventory or cost accounting processes.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Qualifications
The position will require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of experience. The position is 100% onsite and will require some to live in the local Tri-Cities/Virginia or surrounding areas.
Skills
Proficiency with D365 or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
