We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Newport Beach, California. This role supports an accurate and timely close process while helping maintain the integrity of consolidated financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead assigned aspects of the monthly close by preparing, reviewing, and validating journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accuracy across general ledger activity by analyzing account balances, resolving discrepancies, and documenting conclusions clearly.
- Coordinate complex accounting tasks related to consolidations, including foreign currency remeasurement, intercompany eliminations, and expense allocations.
- Support special accounting initiatives by organizing deliverables, preparing related entries, and ensuring complete documentation for each project.
- Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency and recommend practical process enhancements that strengthen timeliness and accuracy.
- Contribute to the development and application of accounting policies that promote consistent reporting across the organization.
- Partner with internal and external auditors by assembling audit schedules, responding to requests, and providing detailed financial support during quarterly and year-end reviews.
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting by preparing information used in management packages and regulatory filings while following established controls and compliance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience with hands-on responsibility for month-end close and general ledger activities.
- Strong working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
- Ability to evaluate financial issues independently, solve practical accounting problems, and manage work in environments with evolving processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 or related ERP systems is preferred.
- CPA designation is preferred.
- Familiarity with internal controls, audit support, and financial reporting requirements is highly valued.
