About the role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas and contribute to core accounting operations across several high-impact areas. This role will oversee reconciliations, support accurate financial reporting, and help maintain compliance in areas such as revenue, leases, inventory, and intercompany activity. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly accounting for prepaid balances, including amortization schedules and accurate balance sheet presentation.
- Maintain loan-related accounting records by preparing entries, reconciling activity, and supporting reporting requirements.
- Handle revenue-related accounting tasks to ensure transactions are recorded correctly and aligned with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare and clear intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliations so balances between entities remain accurate and current.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between purchasing, receiving, and invoicing records through regular GR/IR reconciliation activities.
- Review occupancy-related accounts such as rent, utilities, and deposits, and address variances in a timely manner.
- Administer lease accounting records, including schedules, amortization, and disclosure support, in accordance with ASC 842.
- Analyze inventory balances and related variances, ensuring entries and reconciliations support accurate financial results.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, respond to audit support requests, and assist management with financial analysis and other ad hoc reporting needs.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, with preference for work involving multiple entities or intercompany activity.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and practical application across general accounting functions.
- Experience with revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and lease accounting under ASC 842.
- Hands-on background in general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end or year-end close.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations, including intercompany and GR/IR-related reviews.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA certification is a plus, along with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
