Responsibilities
- Direct critical activities tied to monthly and annual close cycles, including preparing entries and reviewing ledger activity for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform detailed reconciliations across balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reliable financial records.
- Produce and evaluate financial reports such as income statements and balance sheets, highlighting trends and meaningful variances against plans or forecasts.
- Support consolidated reporting activities and help ensure results are compiled accurately across entities or business segments.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and workpapers needed for internal reviews and external audit requests.
- Monitor fixed asset records by tracking acquisitions, retirements, and depreciation while maintaining an accurate asset ledger.
- Contribute to a strong control environment by following accounting policies, reinforcing compliance practices, and identifying areas of risk.
- Recommend and help implement improvements to accounting workflows, systems, and reporting methods to enhance efficiency and precision.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and provide guidance to less experienced accounting staff on procedures, reporting needs, and complex accounting matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its application in financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Background in consolidation accounting and preparation of related financial information.
- Proficiency with ERP and financial reporting tools such as Infor M3, Prophix, or similar platforms, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
