Responsibilities
- Lead monthly closing activities by preparing and reviewing financial entries, accruals, and supporting schedules to ensure timely reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger by recording accounting activity accurately and investigating variances or unusual balances.
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation and alignment to accounting standards and internal controls.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations on a recurring basis and resolve discrepancies in a thorough and timely manner.
- Complete bank reconciliations by comparing financial records to banking activity and researching outstanding items.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial data, clarify account activity, and support accurate period-end reporting.
- Aid in process improvements related to accounting workflows, documentation, and reporting accuracy as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for period-end close activities.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and the preparation of journal entries.
- Demonstrated ability to complete account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
- Experience handling bank reconciliations and researching reconciling items independently.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting best practices.
- Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred. CPA certification is a plus.
