About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to perform a variety of accounting and compliance activities. Reporting to the Controller, this on-site position in Kingston, NY, will prepare, review, and analyze financial and compliance data in accordance with GAAP and Howmet policies. The Senior Accountant will assist in accounting transactions, analysis, planning, and maintain accounting systems to ensure accurate financial data. This role collaborates closely with other departments to support daily finance and compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and complete timely journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Contribute to monthly and year-end closing processes by preparing workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze and review product margin trends and identify variances.
  • Prepare financial reports in accordance with company deadlines, ensuring all supporting documentation is maintained.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly standard and special reports; assist the Controller in analyzing data to report operational status.
  • Process internal compliance testing and verify compliance standards are followed throughout the site.
  • Collect, process, and manage payroll for hourly and salary employees.
  • Perform periodic audits of cycle counts, WIP inventory, fixed assets, and other areas as requested.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures; identify areas for procedural improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data and information.
  • Work closely with Finance leadership on special projects, financial reporting initiatives, process improvements, and organizational priorities.
  • Maintain full compliance with Company policies, procedures, and Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Ensure all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing company.
  • Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and Lookup Functions.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Pay

Annual salary range: $75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience.
