Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.
- Perform service and repair work on wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and other fire protection systems.
- Identify system deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings clearly to customers and management.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection documentation, deficiency reports, and work orders in a timely manner.
- Perform backflow preventer inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs, and documentation as required by local authorities and applicable regulations.
- Aid in installation, modification, and repair of fire sprinkler piping, fittings, valves, hangers, and related components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, system drawings, specifications, and fire protection plans.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, lifts, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose system malfunctions and perform corrective repairs with minimal supervision.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized condition.
- Cook up with customers, contractors, inspectors, and other trades to ensure successful completion of assigned work.
- Respond to emergency service calls and participate in after-hours or on-call rotations as required.
- Maintain required certifications, licenses, and continuing education related to sprinkler systems, backflow prevention, and fire protection services.
- Follow all applicable NFPA standards, state and local regulations, and company quality standards.
- Perform sprinkler fitter duties including pipe installation, system modifications, equipment replacement, and support of construction and retrofit projects.
- Assist in training and mentoring apprentices and less experienced technicians when assigned.

- Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
- Be able to lift 75lbs.
- Be able to read construction documents.
- Maintain general math skills.
- Knowledge of construction/inspection tools and equipment.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s license and Insurable (No high risk) as determined by company vehicle insurance carrier.
- Skilled at servicing and inspecting wet, dry, standpipe, fire pump, hydrants, and pre-action sprinkler systems per NFPA 25 standards as well as national, state, and local codes.
